How do you know you are right for a boxer?

I visited with a prospective puppy and her breeder on Friday afternoon. Puppy is exactly what I'm looking for........ I'm questioning myself.
........I have done as much reading as possible and really thought this would be my perfect choice. Why, after all of this time am I having doubts? Thanks!

I have to say that what you said in your original post shows that you can make it work. You've done you're research and you have found a reputable breeder. One other thing that you managed to do (after seeing the puppy I might add) is to question whether or not it's the right thing to do, a lot of people don't have second thoughts after seeing those cute little puppy wrinkles. That shows me that you will be a very responsible fur baby parent and you can make it work, and I too hope the puppy is still available.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Since no one has mentioned this yet...have you thought about getting an adult instead of a puppy? There are SO many out there right now that need homes.

Yes, I considered adoption for months and checked rescues frequently. Seems unfortunately, the majority are outside of the puppy years. I decided on a puppy because I feel training from the beginning is easiest, by getting a responsible breeder I am doing all I can to ensure a healthy puppy/healthier dog. I'm hoping that by the time the pup is an adult (another 5/6 years) and ready to slow down, we can take it slower together.

After the reassurances I have received this past weekend from this forum, my vet, previous trainer, and friends that show other breeds of dogs, I did call the breeder and I'm going to be getting my little girl on Friday. So although this will probably be my last post on this thread, I will be back for a visit soon.

This forum is wonderful and I am so grateful to have found it. Thank You!

Does your vet live close to you? Lots of times, vet techs like to make extra $$ by spending their lunch break walking a client's dog. That's how I got my dog walker. She was a vet tech at a nearby vet hospital and would come over every day at lunch to walk Delilah when she was a baby till she was a year old. She was wonderful!!!!
