For general cleaning the vet gave me a 2 step solution. One breaks up the "stuf".Step two is called a drying lotion that flushes and I guess has a drying property that neutralizes step 1. I have different drops for yeasty ears.

allergies and chronic ears

Rox has had horrible allergies since she was a pup. Her ears have always been yeast / infection filled. I have used miracle ear for ever from the vet and it works ok - But I finally did allergy testing on her and found out that her problem was her food. I have switched her to a Vension food and that has made all the difference in the world. Her constant digging, etc. has really improved. She still has a set back if I allow her to have a pig ear or a real non-veggie bone, but that is only for Christmas and birthday.

Finally relief for Mason's ears

The woman at my local health food store, who also is very knowledgable about dogs and holistic care (wish I knew this a long time ago), recommended a product called ProSeed Soothing Ear Drops. I bought it a few weeks ago and wanted to make sure it worked before posting. After about five years of chronic ear problems I have found the winner! You mix it with a carrier oil, I use olive oil, on a spoon and pour it into the ear and massage. It pulls all of the gross, black, stinky, waxy stuff out within a few days. She then recommends using the ACV/water mix or Green Tea/water mix for general cleaning once the wax is gone.

Anyone with chronic ear problems like Mason's should try this. The old vet kept dosing him with steroids and I've changed his diet more times than I can think of, although RAW is here to stay. The woman also mentioned now that we've fixed the ear problem combined with RAW feeding that he may very well go without another ear problem again. I hope so! :)

Glad I found this. Baxter's ears are always icky with dark waxy gunk. It's like they never look clean. Plus they are overly sensitive.

I used Baby whipes on Tank Ears he doesn't have a problem with me cleaning his ears. I just don't go all the way in. Just clean what you can see is what I was told.

After my guys have a bath I snuggle them up in a big towel and they let me clean their ears with q-tips while their ears are still wet in there. :)
