How did you name your Boxer???

Both are boys were named by my daughter. She chose Henry and Fred and I have absolutely no idea where she got them. But their names have definitely fit their personalities. I think if we get a girl we should name her Ethel - then we would have Fred and Ethel. But when I say that, my daughter just stares at me like I have three heads!! Do the classics mean nothing to this 7 year old?!

I named Tyson after Mike Tyson. Tyson love to eat pig ears as a pup and I felt that the name fit. And for Jade, It was because while in Korea I thought alot about getting a female for Tyson. They had alot of Jade (stone) and just thought that it would reflect my year spent in Korea.

Penalty Box SBL came from my obsession with ice hockey!!
"Penalty" is a typical boxer and loves to get into things. So, I couldn't think of a better name for him.
He loves to "Box" and it is a perfect fit!

He is a true boxer, hence his name...he likes to get into some brawls and some trouble!

Remy was named by the breeder and we couldn't think of a better name. :p (We found out later that Remy is a cognac.)
Shannon was older when we got her--already named. We didn't think we should change her name at that point. I have a good friend named Shannan who laughed when she heard we got a dog named Shannon.
Bailey took some time to name. I originally wanted to name her PepperAnne, but it just didn't seem right. Because of her color, I thought of Bailey's and Creme. The name fits her now.
P.S.
Two people I know who recently got puppies both named them Bob! Both said it was because you never hear of a dog named Bob. :rolleyes:

I wanted to name Casper "Gus" but Glenn didn't like that name so we both liked Casper (obviosuly he's white) and that is his name. Glenn doesn't know that Casper's full name is:

The first two I explained already, then Mike Tyson because Casper has this squeaky bark and it reminds me of Mike Tyson because he's so big then he has that squeaky girlie sounding voice, then my and glenn's last names.

I named Ali after Alice Springs in Australia, cause I spent a little bit of time there and really liked it (not named after Ally McBeal like lots of people seemed to think!) - also, she just happens to be the same colour as the earth in the "Red Centre" - didn't notice that till later though!

'Gypsy' was 2 when we got her - she was a very dark black brindle and the name suited her. Our next Boxer was called 'Chester' - I like the connection between the name and the Boxer chest - go figure! Our present two are called Ttakas and Bronte. The name Ttakas was chosen two years before we had to put Chester down - we were on holiday in Cyprus visiting the in-laws and everyone's favourite beach was Ttakas beach and I decided then that our next Boxer would be called Ttakas (it's a common Greek name). Bronte came by her name as a token of my husband's heritage - he's a Yorkshireman and she was named for the Bronte sisters, authors of Wuthering Heights, etc. I also like the name 'Dickens' - maybe the next one??? We met a Dickens in puppy kindergarten in 1997 - he came by his name because his owners didn't know what the dickens he was!!!

I chose the name Joey because I live alone and learned a long time ago if you name your dog a "people" name, when a stranger is at the door and you call out a persons name, it has more of an impact. Also I had Joe Louis in mind.
