How did you come up with THAT name?

Names of my current cats: Amaretto (red point siamese) and Kahlua (lynx point siamese)

Theme names of THE PAST:
(named for games) Cats - Checkers and Jacks, Dog - Domino, turtle - Tetris

(soft drinks) Litter of kittens - Cola, Sprite, Dr. Pepper, Shasta and 7-up
(Disney felines) - litter of kittens -Duchess, Princess, Figaro, Dinah, Sere Kahn, Oliver

We had a snake named Ruby. It was part of his scientific name!


Sharon, I had already pegged you as an Eric Clapton fan. Actually, we probably have lots in common.

Besides Layla - Paint Your Wagon is one of my all time favorite movies, I have a great interest in Impressionist Era art, I consider myself a rebel and you probably are too, and I love to read Dave Barry!

We just adopted a rescue and they named him Manny. Well it really didn't seem to fit so we were looking at street signs on the way home and Chris say "Chase Bank" I have always loved the name Chase, and he seems to respond to it very well...
We got Ginger as a puppy and named her before we brought her home. The fawn color reminded me of Ginger-Spice, although we call her Ginger-Bean.

We got Hoopers name from the Jaws movie, (Richard Dryfus played him in the movie)... plus it's one of my favorites :D

We have two beautiful babies:
Ryan's Crown Prince Oberon, also known as Obie (Dog lips, Puppy dog, Sweetest dog, Big dog). He was the first puppy we got after our first boxer, Buster, died.
Obie was the runt of the litter, but boy, was he rotten! So, because he was small and mischieveous, we named him after Shakespeare's king of the fairies.

Serendipity (Dip,Dippy, Dippity, Little Girl, Sweet Puppy) was named because she was an unplanned, happy occurrence that arose out of a bad situation.

We also have two cats, named Rex (a female) and Steve (a male).
Rex (Rexy, Rex-a-Roo, Roo-Roo, Rooney) was acquired from my brother, who named her before he know she was female. Steve (Stevie, Stevie Jay, Stevie Jay Pussycat), just looked like a Steve.

They are all rotten but we love them.
Heck, we want more.

I picked up my cat as a stray on the street. She was roaming around with one of those stupid collars that has the bell for cats. I took her to the vet right away and needed a name. Real quick I called her Jingles because of the bell. But I never really liked that name and as time went on it got shortened. So eventually it came to be Jing (pronounced Ying). She responds to that and even comes when you call her!

So now she is Jing, Jing-a-ling, and Jinger.

Please no one ask me if there is a yang, been hearing that joke for 15years now. Someone even asked me if I thought of naming Rocky Yang! Now come on!!!

We got our baby from a breeder in Kansas (not a mill I did my reasearch ) when debating on a name I wanted it to reflect where he came from.....my other half wanted to name him Whisky or Duke ...needless to say I wasn't very fond of either.....so When in the driving home from work....the radio station I was listining to was playing a new Ozzy Osbourn song...... the lightbulb went off! Ozzy......as in the Wizard of Oz....from Kansas. Gave myself a pat on the back for coming up with a name for our baby even before he was born appicon. So thats the story ....thanks for reading

Mia's Name

Mia got her name because when I went to look at her she was playing with a soccer ball. She was so tiny and the ball was so big, but she would kick it and "box" it. I was talking to the breeder and said look... it is a little Mia Hamm. (Famous US Womens Soccer Player)

Also I am a single guy and Mia means "mine" in Spanish. As well as I am into Star Names and Constellations. Vindemiatrix is the brightest star in Virgo. The only problem I saw with the nane is that Vindemiatrix means "the son." Oh well everything else fit so Mia stuck.

Last but not least, she always seemed to hide when company would come over. Therefore she was Missing In Action (MIA)

Sube Ru got her name because my husband sell's Subaru vehicles .
We looked into the boxer breed because my husband said "Subaru's have boxer style engines so we should get a boxer" i did a lot of research and was like WOW i want one, best decision i EVER made.
And Sube has become Annapolis Subaru's mascott

Saysha my female ferret got her name because i like sasha but that is to typical so i added a y
Chivas my male ferret whose full name is
Sir Chivas Regal Sir Eats Alot because my father loves Chivas Regal and my husband thought it was a good way to score points with the father in lawclowicon

This is so funny, listening to how all our pets got their names. But I left out my cat, Spanky.
yep, you guessed it, from "the little Rascals". He is the ring leader of trouble and seriously needed a spankin'(but I just spoiled him more) for being such a bratcat. He loves to have his tail tugged on and told how bad he is!
