How clean a belly button?

While Gunther was rolling in the grass, I noticed his belly button looked dirty and a little red. I used just a wash cloth and warm water to wipe it clean and that seem to cause an itch as it made his back leg thump like crazy. I didn't want to press too hard and I don't feel I was able to clean it completely. Does anyone have any ideas of what I can use, not only to clean, but to calm the irritation?

thank you,

Maybe neosporin? Or even gold bond powder will help.
My one boy always has a bit of urine on his belly and near his button, and often has a reddish/rust colored tint to it. After a pee, he always has a dribble on the end and isn't too good at cleaning himself there. Could that be your boys issue? I try to wipe it off with a baby wipe when I think of it. The other dogs are always sniffing his penis too. When I am in the mood, and I gotta be in the right mood, I will pull the sheath back and give him a good cleaning which helps. But it doesn't take long til he's urinated on himself again. sigh. boys!

I keep wet ones by my back door and do belly wipes on both of mine from time to time. Thor has been "re-routed" and he sometime drips and Arabella's belly will break out. For her I do the wipes followed up with Neosporin spray. (the ointment can collect dirt if you put too much on.)
