How big should my boxer puppy be at 7 months?

Can anyone give me some help and/or advice. I'm worried that my gorgeous little girl may be too little or maybe that's normal. She's seven months and weighs 32 pounds but she looks really skinny (the vet said that's normal though). She's about 19 inches high at the shoulder (that's when she's still enough to measure). She's really bouncy (of course), loves her food and has been tested for parasites and all's OK. I know another boxer puppy of the same age, and a girl, who seems to be so much bigger.
Any thoughts welcome

She isn't huge - but doesn't sound particularly small either. I'd call her normal, and likely to be correct (neither over nor under sized) as an adult.

An adult boxer bitch should be between 21-23 inches tall - to the withers. At 7 months, your girl is a long way from finished growing, and is likely to grow at least another couple of inches before she reaches her final height (that final height being reached around the 12-14 months mark). When you say 19 inches to the shoulder, do you mean the shoulder or the withers (point above the shoulder blades, where the neck begins)? If it's the latter, then, I'd guestimate that she'll end around 21-22 inches tall - which is absolutely perfectly correct per the breed standard

Thank you - I'm sure I mean the withers but I'm going to check again - she looks pretty normal to me but I do worry that she looks so skinny. It's great to have the reassurance though - thanks!

My female is 16 months and weighs 54 lbs.....she is a petite boxer.

I think most people here will tell you how much it varies from each dog so unless its to either extreme (clearly overweight or clearly underweight), I wouldn't worry too much. Just like humans you know, some of us are chubby and others skinny but what matters is if were healthy. You got her all checked out for parasites so that's good. My puppy was very underweight from 8 weeks to 5 months then started putting on good weight but you can still see some of her ribs. She is 6 months now and weighs 34 pounds. Like gmacleod said, she has a lot of growing to do still and her height seems right. Nothing to worry about I'd say =)

At 7 months, Venus was about 40-42lbs and now at almost 9 months now she is 44-45lbs. Hope this helps! I don't think your pup sounds too underweight. She's just little.

My girl is the same way. She just turns 6 months this weekend. I'm not sure of her weight, but I would say around 30-35lbs and she also looks "thin." We also have a male who is a month younger (5 mos. today!) and he's still slightly shorter than she is, but definitely weighs more, but then he's built differently and has a HUGE rib cage and chest. He is just solid.

I also worry that my Millie isn't growing properly because we have an undiagnosed problem...working with a specialist soon...and I hope it isn't effecting her growth rate. Her mom and dad were both larger scale boxers I think (mom 75lbs and dad close to 90). She eats well too and everything else is normal.

From what I read, I'm guessing this is just normal and you're not alone.

Hi as others say if you have had her seen by the vets etc and all is well I wouldn't worry about it too much. My boy is 7 months and is getting really big - he weighed 49lbs at six months! I have seen a few girl boxers recently and they look so tiny compared to him. I think people will say that boxers can be lanky when they are growing puppies - although mine is getting big and heavy we can still see most if not all of his ribs! We've had him checked out and all is well, he's not a big eater but is on good food so judging by his weight he's doing well. How is your boy doing, is he alot bigger than your girl now?

Tough to say without seeing the dog, but from what you describe it sounds right.. There's always that period that Boxers will always look skinny- as many times as we've experienced we still find ourselves looking at them and wondering if they're too skinny.. For us, it's usually between 2-4 years of age before they stop looking a little thin.. I'm not sure if that's normal, but that's always how it's worked out for us.. As long as the vet says they're where they should be and they're eating and going to the bathroom regularly it's probably right- though I know what you're feeling when you see those last two ribs.. We have an absolute GIANT boxer- he's tall, and weighs 98lbs.. It's hard to imagine, but I remember looking at him forever and worrying that he was skin and bones.. I even took him to the vet about it once worried sick.... I have pictures of him in which we must have caught him striding just right and it seems like you can see every rib in his body- to this day, even at 98lbs you can still see his last rib.. Hard to imagine, but the leanness that can be concerning, is pretty normal..
