Hello! I was wondering how big was your puppy when he/she was 6-7 weeks old.

We went to pick up our puppy this weekend only he had picked up a virus from the vet's office and dropped 6-8 oz and the breeder felt more comfortable staying with him until he gained it back. He is now on medication for it and hopefully will get better within the next week. We were really looking forward to bringing him home.

Well, the reason for my question is that as some of you might have read from an earlier thread, my husband had surprised me with a boxer pup on our anniversary on the 3rd of March (from a BYB). Well, he died a week later and we never figured out why. Well this pup was quite big and weighed 12 pounds at 7 weeks. I did not think anything of it at the time since I had never had a boxer pup before. Well, when we saw our new puppy, he was quite smaller. (His parents are not small at all his dad is 85 lbs and mom is 65lbs). We asked the breeder about that and explained how big our other pup was. She told me that they are usually that small at 7 weeks (like our new puppy). Then, She asked me about our other pups teeth and showed me our new puppy's teeth. Well, our first pups teeth were bigger. Now we are worried that our first puppy was older than just 7 weeks old and that we really got taken.

ANything anyone can tell me would be greatly appreciated.I am really worried now! I am going to post pictures of our old puppy and see what you all think. I already have some of our new one!

Roxy weighed 10lbs at 7 weeks and Canon 4lbs. It's been my experience that puppies can have a pretty large range in size. Roxy parent's were about the same size as Canon's. So I don't know if parent size has anything to do with it or the way the mother was cared for during pregnancy and nursing. Every puppy is matures differantly.

Vet told me at 9 weeks, 9 lbs. was "a load"

I was surprised when I took Chloe to her first check up since I had gotten her at 8 weeks. I was worried about her being too skinny at 9 weeks, she weighed 9 lbs. The vet called her "a load" and said she was quite healthy at that weight. Today is her 2nd check up at 12 weeks, I'm anxious to see what the vet says about her today....... !!!

At his 6 week physical my male weighed in at a whopping 5 pounds, 9 oz according to the vet records. He is now 16 months and weighs in at a healthy 74 pounds.

Scarlet weighed a whopping 13 lbs at 8 weeks, 19 lbs at 11 weeks and 46 lbs at 6 months! We thought for sure we were going to have a monster dog.

This is when we switched her dog food from Nutro Puppy Food to Nutro 'Large Breed' Puppy Food. I dont know if it is a coincidence or not but her rate of growth slowed tremendously after we made the switch. She is now 58lbs at 1 1/2 yrs. old.

I got Molly right at 7 weeks old. I took her to the vet at 8 weeks, and she weighed 8 lbs, 7 oz. They told me she was a bit small for 8 weeks, but not to worry. Well, shes 9 weeks now and I swear shes HUGE! Her next visit isnt for another 3 weeks, so I cant wait to find out how much she'll weigh then! ALso, I then took Molly with me to a local Pet Food/Supply store (I was buying my first bag of Innova for her) and the guy that owned the place said that Molly wasnt undersized or small at all! He was very knowledgeable about Boxers (and large dogs period), and I actually trusted his opinion more than the Vets. My point? young puppy Boxers grow so fast that its nearly impossible to keep any sort of bulk on them. So if you think that your boxer is too small, give her time. And no, she wont be the worlds first miniature or toy boxer!

You can see him at 7 months in my gallery "Duke"

Our largest pup was...

4 1/4 lb - 6 wks
I didn't get his 7.5 wk weight...he was in an obedience class.
6 lbs - 8 wks
7 1/4 lbs - 9 wks
10 lbs - 10 wks
don't have a recorded weight for him at 12 wks either??

You can see him at different ages in my gallery as well "Buck"

You also can see how Duke is much larger than Buck is now!! Funny how they grow.:)

Pru was 3 lbs at 6 weeks and now at 2.5 yrs is around 50 lbs. Sheeba was 6.4 lbs at 4 wks and at 2 yrs of age is now around 60/65 lbs. Weights vary considerably when pups!!:)

Mac is 13 weeks and weighs a whopping 24 pounds. Oh my. Oh my oh my. ;)

From his records, I think he was about 9 at 7wks and 11 at 8 wks.

He's one of those 'Monster' Boxers....not to be mistaken with the 'Miniature' Boxers that BYB rave about.
