How are your furbabies handling the fireworks?

Flash is not a big fan of them. Fearless Zoe wants to attack. Two New Years Eves ago, I went out the front door with Zoe to let her tinkle. Well, the neighbor across the street was out burning fireworks ( they are legal in our parish ) with his three kids, all under 10. Zoe tore straight across the street like a madwoman with me in tow and actually started biting at the fireworks as they were popping. Fortunately he is a good neighbor and did not panic as he knows our pups are good. That was the day I understood how strong she really is. No doubt the neighbor will be popping fireworks as usual before the holiday ends. We will no doubt be inside. Happy 4TH everone. :)

Sounds like a good plan. Only other thought is make sure they can not see anything... Mine are crated away from any windows. Good luck!

Rocky seems to be doing much better today. He must be getting used to them again. They've been going off all around us and the kids have been doing them as well. Rocky doesn't seem to be minding them at all. Of course I've been ignoring him as if it's just another noise outside. And he's been wanting to go outside all day. I'll still probably keep him inside just in case but I'm sure he'll have his nose against the window the whole time. ;)

One more thing that Indy has decided to take in moderation. He does the deep chest rumble/growl thing. Started doing it the other night when fireworks were going off for a festival here. However my little security system wasn't bothered enough to bother going to the first floor of the house or any of the windows.

I called him back into the bedroom and put a gate across the door. He just gave me 'the look'. Sort of his way of saying 'hey lady, I told you there is loud, bad stuff going on. But if you don't care, who am I to worry about it?' And went to bed.

So glad I have him around to protect me!

Rommel kind of looks up from what he was doing, but he is so distractible at 11 weeks that he forgets what he heard a second later. I am hoping that hearing them at such a young age will make him used to it as he gets older.

Went to a friends house for bbq/fireworks this evening. One of their two dogs goes bezerk when fireworks are going off, and what's weird is that we all think he is deaf - I guess he's not totally deaf. Stormie was a little uncomfortable with it all, but she was ok sitting on my lap or at my feet. The ones going off in the distance made her pretty nervious though.
Usually after a day at their house, she sleeps all the way home, but tonight she was nervous at the noises all around us and kept looking out the window.
We are home now and she is sleeping next to my chair. In our computer room we have a window A/C and I have it running, I think it is lulling her and drowing out the noise.

We just got back from our evening walk and I thought if we went before it got dark there wouldn't be as many fireworks going off, boy was I wrong! Rolen did fine with the fireworks though! There were a couple that were the really screeching loud ones that go up and then pop...he was doing a couple head tilts to those, but other than that he did good! :) A couple of times he would look up at my husband and I to see if there were any reactions from us, but when he didn't get any, he kept on prancing! :) He went the full route with no scaredy cat moves! Very proud of him!

Chance is doing well. He is snoring away as the neighbors are lighting up the neighborhood around us :) Oh well as long as he's not freking out and tearing the house apart we are all very happy

Roscoesmommy

Completely Boxer Crazy
We took Blayne and Roscoe to see the fireworks last night. We walked to the end of our street (1 1/2 blocks), set up our chairs in a parking lot and enjoyed. Both dogs were more concerned with all of the people walking by rather than the fireworks. After about 15 minutes they both layed down and just watched. I knew Roscoe wasnt bothered by them, but wasnt sure about Blayne, but she did fine...they didnt even phase her.
