How are your furbabies handling the fireworks?

Hi,

We don't celebrate 4th July in the UK, but when we do have fireworks for other occasions Bailey is absolutely fine!

Most of the time he sleeps through them, but he's quite happy to go for a walk with them banging everywhere aswell!

Completely Boxer Crazy
Roscoe doesnt seem phased by them at all. On Memorial Day weekend the people camping next to us were letting off M-80's (REALLY loud fireworks) and Roscoe barely even flinched. There were some little ones being let off this weekend and Blayne didnt seem to notice, but we will see how she reacts tomorrow night and Wednesday night when the big ones are let off (the city does them about 9 blocks from our house).

Oh yes, already dreading the 4th :( My two are frantic when it comes to noises like that, needless to say we will not be getting any sleep until the last firework is done.

They are even scared of the little snaps you throw on the ground. We were walking them last night and they heard a couple down the road. Everytime....thier little butts would tuck under and run

Poor little things

Gauge doesn't mind them at all. My sisters dogs a so scared they try to dig holes in the carpet to hide and shake for hours and hours. She has too take them on a long car rides as far away from the fireworks as possible. She knows what her mistake was DO NOT pet your dog while they are scared and keep saying its alright. By doing that she taught them that they are suspose to be afraid and to this day she reguards this. Fireworks and thunder make her dogs nervous wrecks.
So with Gauge we just ignored his behavior during the fireworks like it was a normal thing that happens all the time. The first time he was scared and ran in the house we did nothing and he was out again in a few minutes. We made it through Victoria day weekend no problem. Last night was Canada day fireworks and all he did was lifted his head and looked around and went back too sleep.

I was worried Dempsey would freak out, but a few weeks ago there were Flag Day fireworks and he climbed into my lap and was snoring after a few minutes! Whew!!

Diesel's doing well. He's not been scared of anything yet.

He'll normally hear them going off, then head to the front door, or the window to look out and see if there's anything good to look at.

I took Ory and Bella to the park today to tire them out. Later I'm going to give them some Port Tenderloin and hopefully they'll float off to Boxer Dreamworld. I want to go to a get together later tonight so I planned this whole exhaustion thing. Just to be sure though, I'm turning the radio or TV on so it will hopefully drown any excess noise out. Any other pointers? Usualy Grandpaw watches them, but he went to go visit my brother for the 4th. Hopefully we'll be good. :)
