Since the 4th of July holiday is upon us, i heard a lot of fireworks going off around us last night and it's only the 1st of July. I imagine a lot of early barbecues since the holiday is in the middle of the week. In years past they haven't bothered Rocky but this year seems to be an exception. He will barely go outside! Last night the kids were shooting off a few small ones and Rocky went hiding while Ali (the boxer next door) was trying to grab them with her mouth while lite! Good thing we remodeled our basement and put a huge master bedroom down there because that's where Rocky's kennel is, I imagine that's where he will be on the 4th. Poor Rocky! :( In the past he's always been outside with us enjoying the fun. Now I'm wondering what will you do with your furbaby during the holiday?

I hadn't thought about it yet. We haven't had any fireworks around here lately. I imagine I will have to crate Chica on the 4th while we go watch the Fireworks show at the local High School. Her crate is in our bedroom, I'll be sure to turn up the radio and close all the windows.

Shelby refused to go out to potty last night because of them. As soon as we stepped outside one went off and she went back in. Holly doesn't seem to mind them.

A few years ago Shelby would not go out all day because of them, the neighbors started about 10 in the morning and went until midnight. My DH tried carrying her out that night and she spread her legs so they wouldn't fit through the door frame trying to stop him from taking her out.

When we go to watch fireworks Wed night I plan on blasting radios in the house in hopes of blocking out the neighbors.

This will be our first 4th of July with Rolen, so it will be interesting to see how he reacts to the fireworks. The last couple of nights people in our neighborhood have been setting some off and sometimes it seemed to scare him and then other times they didn't bother him at all. One was a pretty big boom so that scared him to death! We don't know if we are going to go to the actual firework show on Wed because we don't really want to leave him by himself if he will be freaked out the entire night! I guess we'll have to wait and see :)

three of our four will be terrified, altho our area of alabama, has a fireworks ban, because of the severe drought ,i am sure the kids across the street will be lighting firecrackers, they always do...i will get the three who are terrified,in a room in the back our house, close the door, plug in a window fan,set it on high, then turn on the tv,this really helps with the noise.... poor babies!!

Grumpy spent all of last night hiding in her crate! We had to drag her outside and it took 20 minutes to get her to pee. She is terrified, poor baby :( I will be so glad when this holiday is over!!!!

Funny you posted this because I was about to post the same thing! ;) We live in PA and last night (Sat.) was the big fireworks display out here! Chief was terrified! He sat next to DH and I on the couch and just trembled so hard! I felt so bad!!!! We just kept petting him; and eventually he curled up in my lap and just burried his little head and kept trembling! After about ten minutes he started to settle. We had my MIL's yellow lab, Barkley, with us as well this weekend as she was working a long shift at the hospital. Sam and Barkley weren't even phased. DH and I went out on the front porch to watch the fireworks. Slowly all three dogs came out! Once Chief, got a glimpse of what the noise was all about... he sat there in awe! It all went good for a while until the next door neighbors started in with the fire-crackers! Then he went tearing back in the house (trembling again)! :( I felt so bad!!!! I did lots of boxer cuddling last night! ;)
