Houstraining

We are trying to house train without a crate, and Gidget she is 4 months old now,does fairly well. However when she does have an accident it is in my daughters room. What can I do or use to get the smell out of there and discourage her from using that room?

I would keep your daughters room door closed...I can't remember what the name of the stuff we use on the rugs is, but i'll look when i get home and write ya back!! It works great!!

Nature's miracle should help to get the smell out.

But you know, the reason that crates are so useful in housetraining a puppy is that they provide somewhere safe for you to put the pup at those moments when you simply cannot be watching. This removes the possibility of the puppy sloping off out of sight and peeing in anybody's room. Now, you don't need a crate to housetrain a pup. But you *do* need to keep the puppy always in the same room as you are - where you can see her. If she's got the freedom to slope off and pee anywhere, then she will and your housetraining is going to be a slow process

When my dog kept using the same spot, I sprayed Lysol on the rug and that ended it.

Thanks for the information. I am probably going to have to get a crate, although i just hate to. At night she gets out of bed and doesn't wake me up and this is when I think this is happening. I have heard to use vinegar, and all kinds of things, but i wanted to knwo what you all have found to work.
