I am a stay at home mom with a 2 yr old human son and one 13 wk old brindle girl named Greta. We are all home together 90% of the time but when I run errands Greta gets crated and I can hear hers cries too and from the car. My problem is when we are home she has run of the house and has atleast a few accidents on the floor. If I crate her while we are home she cries and howls untill I cant take it anymore. We have a fenced yard and I let her out regulary and go on regular walks but she still has accidents when I am not looking. I am very frustrated. I don't understand--she sleeps with us all night and has never had a accident. Please help! She also relieves herself on my houseguest when she gets very excited.

Welcome to Boxerworld!

Greta is still very much a baby and isn't old enough to be fully housetrained. You still need to make sure she gets outside every couple of hours or so while she's awake. Take her out after she wakes, eats, & naps and reward her when she is successful!

She also needs to learn that her crate is a nice place to be. Make sure she has something in her crate to keep her attention. Kongs work great! You can stuff them with treats which require some effort and time to get out. They can also be frozen which requires more work to get the goodies out.

Give her a treat when she goes into the crate and don't just put her in when you're leaving. Let her go in & out while you are home. Shut the door for brief periods while you are in the room. If you leave toys in the crate, make sure they don't have squeakers, rattles or can come apart so she could choke.

Remember that she's still very young and has a lot to learn. Furkids are a whole lot like skinkids!

congrats on your puppy...but the only thing I have to say is She is winning the crate ordeal...Boxers are very smart and all it takes is one time of you letting her out when she cries and then she knows that when she cries you are going to let her out. You need to be the strong one and let her cry herself to sleep. It is nto mean or inhumane...it is a very good thing for her and she will come to love her crate...I have an 8 week old female that I have had since she was 4 weeks and she is now potty trained. Every time she would go to sleep I would put her in her crate so when she woke she would let me know and we would take her right outside. It is good that you are home so that means you can give her the help she needs with this. I wish you luck and don't give in...you have to show her who is boss and that means she doesn't get out by barking.
