I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that has been reminding me to stay patient in spite of my endless whining about my 14 week old Allie.

The past two days, the tethering has really helped. I caught her in the middle of ONE accident, and hopefully that was all we needed to associate bad with good. Since, she started looking at the door. Of course, we immediately went outside, and success!!

Today, so far, she has looked at the door twice, and gone each time. The second time was after staying outside to play for half an hour and coming back in. I had a close eye on her because I couldn't remember the last time she went outside....likely towards the beginning of the half hour. She was starting to play inside and ran around to the back door. I saw her leave and followed. She was going down the landing to the door. I opened it and didn't follow her. She went right to the potty spot and success!

Of course, she got a big jackpot.

We are still a long way off, but this is a huge relief. Today has been a good day....finally.

That's great! You'll have some setbacks and bad days where you think she'll never be trained. But it certainly sounds like she is starting to "get" the concept!

We expect setbacks, but O.....M........G this is a relief. She just woke up this morning. I opened the door to her kennel, started turning on the tv in the kitchen, fixing my boys some breakfast, and out she came.....stretched.....walked around me and right to the door.

She definitely has the concept. Now, for the accuracy and reliability. But, at least this is a start. At times, something I NEVER thought I would see. Phew.
