Boxer Booster
Another suggestion that worked for us was to bell train our dogs. We have a cow bell hanging at the backdoor that every time we took Chester our we would ring the bell by touching his nose to the bell. It only took a couple of weeks and he started doing it himself. The only drawback is that he would ring the bell just to ring the bell, so everytime he rang the bell, out he went whether he had to go to the washroom or not.
We also found that teaching him to pee on command has really worked great, espically when the vet needs a urine sample. With this everytime we took him out, when he started to pee, we would praise him and say "go pee" and now when we take him out, we say "go pee" and he goes.
With Lilly, she she came home, she just copied Chester and rings the bell and out she goes. Even though she is deaf, she knows by watching him that the door opens when she touches the bell. We also taught her a hand signal for "go pee" and she also pees on command.
Like others have said, it does get better and taking her out after every meal or play time and when she can't be watched 100%, crating her will most definately help her and put less stress on your patience.
Good Luck
