Hello everyone, I am having trouble with my puppy eating her poo. She is doing it almost every time she goes. House breaking was going good but seems to be going in the wrong direction. She still goes to the door when she needs to go out, but has accidents and this new craz about eating her poo is getting me sick to my stomach. If anyone has had this problem before and/or has suggestion please send them my way. Thank you

There is a product that you can buy from Fosters and Smith and your vet probably knows about this that you can give to your puppy to prevent the desire to eat the pooh. I wish you luck.

Rogue does this, but only if she messes her crate in the wee small hrs of the morning when no one is around to see.

Otherwise we scoop the poop pretty quickly around here. ;)

It's a nasty affair. Yuk!

Watch her when she poops & then go in for the scoop. :D

I was talking to some folks at work and they said dogs eat poo because they lack an enzyme that they need in their diet. I dunno if thats true, maybe GMac can shed some light on why this might be happening. I was told the way to avoid it is to feed "puppy" food to young dogs less than a year old. I dunno how true that is, I'm feeding regular dog food to my pup and he seems to be doing ok.

I've heard the same thing as to why they eat poop but I was led to believe that was specific to kitty poop and not thier own poop.

Cat Poo

We have TONS of stray cats around my townhouse complex and needless to say also have TONS of stray cat poo. Layla loves to eat it! It really grosses me out especially since they're strays and god only knows what diseases and parasites they have! What is Layla's danger? Anyone?
