We put about 8 of those leash hooks around the door of the crate to stop Cassius from getting out. The first crate we had he actually broke the welds of the metal grid panels to get out.

Capone has been able to bend, break, destroy....anything to get out of the crate. He actually hurt himself pretty badly. So, at the advice of my vet who was worried that he would get hurt to badly, he is no longer crated. It was rough at first, but he has come around. Now he has decided he doesn't like to see his friends crated either....he lets his foster friend out every day! :LOL: evilicon

My Hailey used to be quite the escape artist as well. She was a rescue dog about age 1 1/2 and apparently had issues with being crated (didn't know that before hand). The large plastic crate lasted about 4 days. She'd popped the door out by bending the bars; knocked off the cover to the mechanisms and sprung the doors open. I put the mechanisms back in and wire tied the cover on it. I think I even resorted the PB Kong w/ treats- she just would have nothing to do with it while she's crated. Finally she bent the bars so bad they wouldn't go back into the holes. Now I use that crate to transport them to doggie daycare. I purchased the metal crate and it never seemed to amaze me she would be out of that as well even with the clips (I used that trick too). At my wits end I crated Jasmine and Hailey together and for the most part it has fixed the problem for over a year now. On occation I come home and Hailey will have gotten out, but Jasmine is still in the crate as content as can be. BTW- I had no problem getting her into the crate, but keeping her in there was a different story.

FYI- I did video tape her and it was very disturbing the amount of trouble she went through to try and get out of the crate. I'm just glad she's gotten much, much better at being crated.

I have not had this happen with either one of my two because they are only crated if we go out and they are content with a Frozen Stuffed Kong. But I have a possible suggestion: How about a spare Room like laundry room mud room etc. Maybe put the crate, door open, in the room and just shut the door of the room. Maybe take anything out of the room he could get at and just leave his toys etc. I just can't imagine them using so much force to get out of the crate and not hurting themselves. Good Luck
