What I do is give plain kibble in the morning and add all the extras at night when I have more time to prepare it. Luckily I have never had a problem with Kona eating what ever is offered.

It is OK, but just don't add things like salt (and never include onions!). But just a small amount of water is fine as well.

I homecook for Henri when I'm going to be travelling and he goes to his petsitter (it's simpler than asking a family with small kids to feed raw LOL). For that, I just make a big stew of meat (chunks), ground beef (for the fat content), liver, kidneys and some vegetables. I only use enough water to stop it sticking to the bottom of the pot and the offal adds all the flavour he could possibly want - stock isn't really needed.

This thread inspired me to try slow cooking a whole chicken for my two this weekend. The slow cooker timer goes 20 hours, and at 16 the bones were still hard to break; at 20 hours the largest bones fell apart when I pushed them with a spoon. The 5 lb. chicken, 3 small potatoes and a few carrots cooked down to about 2 liters/quarts.

The dogs are beside themselves excited about this treat. We usually add a tablespoon of canned food to their dry Canidae and mix with a little water. While I have this extra good stuff, I'll use it instead of the canned, use a little less kibble and a little more meat mixture.

I LOVE this thread as it's close to my heart. You might want to check out Mack's Meatloaf in the dog recipe forum.
I homecook and rotate premium kibble as well.......they eat both at every meal.

..How do I give this to him without having him starting to demand it at every feeding and protesting his dry kibble?
I can see that being a problem with him for sure. Any suggestions?
Being picky is the reason I feed this way. Mack and Lulu love their home cooked food but they also eat kibble every day. There have been times due to emergencies, boarding or just being out of homecooked - they have needed to eat plain kibble. They do it with no complaint!
I'm a firm believer in "make it easy" - not so complicated and you will not be able to keep it up.
I make meatloaf, stew, also veggies - freeze them in 8 oz containers and split them between the two dogs.

Now this is what I want to do but I think I need a pressure cooker, I can't just leave things bubbling away on the hob all day. I will have to start looking for one :)
