As a dogowner I was responable for many things, I walked my dog, loved him, fed him, took him to the vet when he was sick, played with him when he was feeling playful and gave him a hug when he was down.
Last friday I had to do the hardest thing a responsable dogowner has to do and let my brave dog pass over the Rainbow bridge.

His name was Holyfield, a big flashy brindle boy, would have turned 9 years old march 26th.

I have probably never been this sad like I've been this weekend, I miss him so much.

Yesterday I saw his footsteps in the snow, and that made me cry. Today the rain washed his footsteps away, and I cried even more.
He had been a big part of my life for the last 4 years, I got him when he was 5 years old. He was so big and strong .. and brave, I didn't think he could ever die.

I stayed with him while he took his final breaths, the hardest thing I've ever seen.
He could have stayed with me a little longer, but in so much pain that it would have been selfish of me to keep him here any longer.

I feel your pain. I had a beautiful flashy brindle female named Abby that was my whole world. When I had to let her go at the age of 8 yrs old it broke my heart. Even though she has been gone 6 yrs my heart still aches for her. I would give anything to hold her in my arms and kiss her sweet smoochie face again. She was my best friend and the one I knew would be there for me when I needed a shoulder to cry on. I had such a hard time with Abby's death. I know now that she is running pain free with all of the babies at the Rainbow Bridge. She is watching over me. When I went to pick out another boxer and this flashy little boxer boy ran over to me and looked up at me with these eyes that looked just like my Abby's I knew he was the one for me. I'm sure Abby sent him over to me to heal my broken heart. Just know that your boy is no longer in pain and is running with all of our babies. Chasing butterflies and laying in the beautiful green grass. I'm sure my Abby was waiting for Holyfield to give him lots of kisses. Godspeed sweet angelicon...Hugs Linda

I am so sorry for your loss, and I know how hard it is. I held my boy while he passed in January and still miss him like crazy every day.. The tears will become fewer as time goes on, and you will start to take comfort in all the good memories, but he will always be with you as my Killian will always be with me. ((Hugs))

I understand your pain. We had to let our Capone go in January. We are very lost without him. Your pain will get a little less, but I don't think it will ever go away completely. His pain though, is gone forever and he is playing and waiting patiently for you at the Bridge. RIP sweet Holyfield and have lots of fun with my Capone.

I'm very sorry for your loss of Holyfield, he sounds like a wonderful boy.
As Elubas says, to let our babies go is the hardest, yet the kindest thing we can do for them. I think they understand. Holyfield is healthy once again and with all his new friend's, he will always be watching over you, many hugs, Kate.

Godspeed precious angelicon Holyfield, watch over your mommy.
