I've been feeding Holly on Autarky since bringing her home from the breeders as this is what she has been brought up on. ?I've looked on the food analysis list and it was not mentioned. It is a working dog food (puppy/Junior) and it is wheat and gluten free with no colours or preservatives. She being absolutely great on it, no problems as yet, just wondered if anyone has heard or knows of it ?

Hi, I was just looking at the list of ingredients in your food. I'm no expert, but having read the dog food analysis page, I would say that maize (corn) as the first ingredient is not great, also a fat in the first 4 ingredients can increase the risk of bloat. It also contains vit c, which means you must not pre-moisten it because it greatly increases the risk of bloat. Being from the u.k myself I know how hard it can be to find a decent dog food, but there are some you can order online. Canidae, Fromms Gold, natures variety and Timberwolf, also I think Solid Gold. Hope this helps.

Thank for all your info, I've written down the other foods mentioned and will look into them, I mentioned I also do 50/50 natures diet, for puppies, which has only chicken, tripe, lamb, brown rice, egg, kelp and ground natural bone. They have a web site so I'm going tolook at that tonight. Do the above foods have puppy ones? I will try me petstore as they are quiet good with many different foods and usually will order for you.
I have still got most of the bag left so I will use this first and towards the end quarter do the change.
What are the implications of maize?

Thanks again

That looks pretty good, but you don't really need to feed a puppy formula - a good all-life-stages formula will be just fine.

As far as maize/corn goes, aside from being hard to digest, it's a very common allergen for dogs.

Thank for your info. Much appreciated. My main concern was the mention of bloat, which panicked me a bit. So I should be ok to finish the bag? Well I will start to change towards the end of the bag by slowly introducing new food. Still looking into that at the moment.
Will go to local pet store end of week and see what they have to offer, if no good I will order over the net.
Looked on the Nature Diet web site and unfortunately they don't do a dry food, which is a shame.
