Loki has one on her shoulder, and just went into the vet today to have it removed. Has anyone else had a dog that had to have one removed, or know anything about it?

My Carson had one on his ear..pretty good sized one. Doc did a biopsy and it was benign. I had to put an ointment on his ear for 2 wks and if it didn't start shrinking vet said they would remove it. It shrunk and now its gone.

Its a pretty simple procedure. Nothing too invasive.

Lukey had one on the outside of his ear a couple of years ago. The vet removed it and it was fine. We just found another one inside the same ear and one on the bottom of his foot pad. He is going in Friday to have them taken off and tested. I am told that 90% of the time these are benign and not to worry. Best thing to do is to have them taken off and tested though to make sure. Otherwise if it gets bigger and more serious its harder to deal with.

Keep us updated:)

Isabella had one right on the middle of her back. It started out the size of a pea, so the vet said leave it. They said it would probably shrink on its own. Well needless to say it got to be about the size of a fifty-cent piece. It looked like it was finally "healing" so the vet said "no worries". It had by this time, got crusty, like a large scab. But they said it would be okay. Well right in the middle of our vacation she was wet from swimming (which the vet said was fine) and the top of it came off and she had a really deep hole in her skin and it was infected and pusy. This all happened within 7 days of her first vet appointment. It grew really fast. So I ended up driving her all the way back home to our vet and they removed it that day. She is fine now, just has a 2 inch scar on her back. By in my experience, DON'T EVER WAIT. Had we insisted they remove it when it was small, she would not have a huge black scar or had that awful infection.

Waldo had one removed from his ear last November, benign thank goodness,I was so terrified it may have been cancer. This healed up well,Waldo's vet is a terrific surgeon, and his scar is minimal:)

Deuce had one on his shoulder. Everything was fine except when we took him to have the stiches out a week later, the incision opened up after we got home. It was just too early to take out the stiches. That's my only advice, make sure the incision is healed enough to remove the stitches. Good luck, I'm sure everything will be just fine. Remember to tell the vet no ACE.

Thanks guys! We had it removed, as it had gotten bigger in the past 3 weeks, and now she has a 3-4 inch scar on her shoulder, just waiting for it to heal. I hope she'll be free of them in the future, as she has already been thru so much and she isn't even a year old yet. But thank you all for your responses, its good to know we aren't alone!
