Our second son, Boomer, was just diagnosed with hip dysplasia. He's 11 months old now and the vet is recommending surgery. My parent's boxer did very well with the surgery, so we are planning to go ahead with this in the next few weeks.
My question is what type of experience have folks had with hip dysplasia and post-op recovery and such. I don't want to base all of my expectations on Gunner - my parent's dog. He did so well.....I just want to be aware of all sides of the issue.
I'm concerned that it will be difficult to keep him immobilized or at least keep him from running if that's what is required since we have another boxer, Crash, who is 18 months old. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Shannon
