Hip Displaysia!!!

I'm just mortified. My little girl is only 20 mos old and has severe displaysia of the left hip. Thankfully its not both, but just thinking of that x-ray makes me cry. As a result her knee is also showing calcification at the joint as well. I've had her on synovi for a few months now, but the vet we saw last week recommened ArthriSoothe by Nature Vet. Does anyone know which product is truely better? I know she doesn't like to take the Arthrisoothe. I even tossed her one hoping she'd just swallow it, not so!! She promptly threw it right back at me. I was impressed by her ability to do that, but not amused. We had to resort to other methods of camoflauge.

Differing vets have different views of what is "best" so I was hoping someone had some first hand experience with the glucosamine products and what is actually the best of the best. Surgery isn't really an option as there is no guarantee and the outcome in the end is still an arthritic hip.

this worked for mine

Winston takes 2 Cosequin DS and 4 1/2 Comfort pills every day. He has been on this for two years and he runs, jumps and has no problems now. I give 1 Cosequin DS in the morning and 4 1/2 Comfort tabs. In the evening he gets 1 cosequin again. Never miss and it takes about a month to 6 weeks to see results but its a life saver here. Cosequin DS alone did not help after 2 months of it but when Comfort was added in a few weeks of both he was normal again. Both I buy at my vets. They figure the Comfort by their weight.

As posted above, Cosequin DS has worked well for us too. Legacee has been taking it for 5 or 6 years now when they diagnosed her with hip displasia. She also has 1 in the morning and 1 at night. We added an aspirin in when she was diagnosed with arthritis in her spine.

There is an article I just saw in DogFancy I believe about hip displaysia. It talked about puting gold beads the size of poppyseeds in the pressure points as an alternate treatment to hip replacement. Kinda interesting, Just FYI
