Hi
Has anyone any experience of hip displacia? My young dog not yet 4-years-old has hip problems. Big shock as you can imagine. We will love and manage her and cope best we can. Our vet is not for surgery and after thinking it over and talking with a "hip" doctor [for people] neither are we. Very invasive procedure. At the moment she is being treated with Metacam - this has made a big difference although unfortunately it is upsetting her tummy.

Do a search for displasia and you should find some helpful information.

My one boxer has bad hips and is currently on a liquid MSM/Glucosamin/Chondroitin supplement and doing great.

Best of luck!

My sisters german short haired pointer had the hip surgery were they removed the ball of the joint and she is doing great!! With alot of hard work and tender lovely care you can hardley tell she had surgery at all. The muscles in her hind leg keeps the hip in place instead of a ball and socket. You have to get them swimming alot to build the muscle .
