You can buy the clear or colored E-collars online - I should think there would be some distributors in England (or that would at least ship to the UK).

Here's one link:

Even if you couldn't get one in time for Higgins to use this time around, it may be a nice thing to have on hand for (knock on wood) future use.

Give that poor guy a hug from us!

Follow-up for Higgins

Well - despite the horrible collar, Higgins is now acting like he was born with it. It's amazing how adaptable dogs can be sometimes. Whereas before he couldn't bear to even have the collar touched when it was on - he is now crashing and banging into just about everything and doesn't give one whit to it all. OK- the furniture and our knees are protesting, but I'm just glad that he's not just standing still in the middle of the room anymore, unable to move.

Thanks for the web sites for the see-through collars- I will be getting one just in case and I will mention it to my vet as well. He goes in tomorrow to check his eyes , which seem to be doing great. A few days later he gets his castration stitches out.

I don't know how long it takes for any signs of 'calming down' to be apparent after the castration, if there are going to be any at all, but he's just as crazy as he was before. In fact, we are getting a dog trainer in later this week to give us some help with the situation that has arose when visitors come to the house. Outside of the house, he's ok and won't jump up on people (very often) but when someone comes to the house he goes absolutely crazy and actually starts this body launching thing where he just twists into the air and crashes into their legs. We've tried very hard to get this under control but he just won't respond and we need help. Wish us luck and if you have any suggestions... pass them along.

Thanks for the get well messages! I love this board!

Gina, glad all is going well now for Higgins, I don't think they ever calm down  Sure hope the trainer can help. ozzy used to go nuts over people too, what I do is make him sit stay until the people come in and then they can pet him but he has to sit, then he sort of calms down, or they just ignore him till he calms down. It always the ititial entrance!! kidney beans for ever. They just love people.
