Does anyone elses boxer get the hiccups? I notice mine gets them alot. She is 8 weeks old. She gets them after playing usually, but today I noticed she was just sitting in the crate about to fall asleep when all of a sudden she got the hiccups. Anyone know what causes this?

I'm not sure what causes this but my boxer get's the hiccups a lot too. Now that he's older he doesn't get them that much as to when he was younger. He usually got them when he was excited.

My Brody used to get hiccups all the time when he was little. Our vet said that was common in puppies.
Now that he's grown up, he hardly ever gets them.

Kira is five months old now and she doesn't get hiccups nearly as often as she did when she was younger. Now she only gets hiccups a couple of times per week.

Hiccups are very common in boxer puppies. It is nothing to worry about and they usually go away as they get older. :)

Our three-week olds just hiccups last night so I am glad to know there is nothing to worry about. They seem to get them when they bark and howl a lot (lots of NOISE!! Barking and howling, howling and barking! LOL) then they subside.

Mine get the hiccups too and I have been meaning to ask about them. Since most of the Boxer puppies have them, is it something in their deep chestedness that causes it?

chestedness - Word I made up to describe Boxers smashicon

I am about 3 years old and I get hiccups too - sometimes when mom goes to work or if there's any tension in the house :(

Umma has hiccups very often, it happens when she needs a drink, after she had it, when she wakes up, when she finished eating, when air blows in her face and so on... sometimes her body shakes so hard I feel sorry for her, they are though of a short period of time, usually 3-4 minutes so all I do is wait until they're gone and try to keep her calm while it happens...

Hiccups are normal at puppies and they happen less as they grow.

Joe is 6.5 months old and still gets them at least once a day (usually at night while sleeping...they always wake me up!). I usually just pat him on his chest or on his side and they go away!
