How long do puppies get random hiccups? I know it's natural, normal...etc. And I was told she'd outgrow them. She's now 5 months old. It seems like she gets them when she's over stimulated, too tired, spooked. I'm not worried, but just curious when she might stop. When do they outgrow hiccups?

My girl is going on 11 months (June 1st). She still gets the occasional bout with hiccups. I just say that when they happen she is growing!
Far less frequently than when she was younger but happens every now and then.

My 4mo old pup seems to always have the hiccups! Especially after eating or drinking- probably swallowing too fast. I wouldn't be alarmed

Cooper had the hiccups so frequently when he was a young pup that I actually got worried about it, I spoke to my vet and a friend of mine who was formerly an animal behaviourist. The vet said that it was nothing to worry about as did my friend, I pressed her as I was still worried, and she said that the only thing it could be that would be serious was an issue with his diaphragm, but that I should wait it out as it was unlikely. They were both right, he did eventually grow out of he us now 8 months and very rarely gets them, they stopped the hugh frequncy about a month to a month and a half ago. Hope that helps some :)

They dont get them much after about a year or so. My pup is 11 or 12 weeks and I just laugh at her when she gets them and tell her thats what she gets for being a freak.. No worries at that age its normal.

Thank you all for the insight. I figured she'll outgrow them...it helps to have an idea of when!! It's still pretty darn cute...very much a puppy thing to me. She gets major hiccups right before she falls asleep if she's super tired. Kinda like "whew...that was quite a day". Thanks again. :)
