Is it normal for puppies to get hiccups after eating? Ali is 11 weeks old and after eating he almost always gets hiccups. Is this normal?

Our first puppy got hiccups all the time, whether after eating or not. Our second puppy gets them less frequently, but still gets them. Our vet told us that hiccups are a pretty common occurence in puppies, but if you are uncomfortable with it you should check with your vet. I probably call the vet three times a week... I am a bit hyper-sensitive about my puppy! ;P

My little Isis gets hiccups at least once a day after she eats. They dont bother her so I am not worried about them. Like the other poster said if you are worried about them give your vet a call.

What a relief! At least now I know it's not just our boy. We asked the vet and she said it was common, but I still wanted to hear from other boxer owners. Thanks for your response. I'm no longer worried :)

Dalen gets hiccups so bad sometimes her whole body jumps...it's kinda funny to watch...she will hiccup for a couple minutes and then is off to her water bowl...do dogs know water works for hiccups too?? She is just too cute when the hiccups start because she is usually fast asleep...

Owen gets hiccups also. He used to get the much more frequently when he was younger. A little water makes them go away. He would even get them out of no where. I have asked many vets and they all said it's normal.
One thing to keep in mind, if your pup gets them right after eating kibble, I wouldn’t let her drink as much as she wants from the water bowl - one of the things they say to do to help prevent bloat is not allow your dog to drink right before and after eating kibble. Owen eats a little kibble at some meals so what I do if he gets hiccups is just put a tiny bit of water in my hand, it's just enough to make the hiccups go away but not enough so he's drinking a lot after eating.
