Hi Guys! New member from Upstate NY.

Me and my family are first time boxer owners, and this first week has been nothing but wonderful suprises. Ive already read through some of the posts on their common behaviors.. so much of that i already see in this dog. Hes a rescue that we managed to manipulate ownership from his previous *ahem* abuser. He is what i would imagine as full grown, close to 2 years old.. and when we first got him he was extreemly "eee-may-she-ate-ed" (emachieated?) heh.. anyways.. at 50 lbs he was so pathetic looking and close to death yet he was still so loving. Hes gained almost 15 lbs this first week alone! (13.5 anyways.. =) He's brindle colored with just a bit of white on his chest. Beautiful dog. He's all but gotten over the only issue he had with food, (would get extreemly hostile twards other dogs who had food or looked at his) and he doesn't seem to goble his food down so hungrly anymore and pays little attention when another dog happens to notice him eating. Were still not letting anyones dogs around him much, and when we do im between them. ;P Anyways i had a few questions and the only question i can remember right now unfortunatly is about this knot on the top, rear portion of his head. It is quite large and from what ive heard from some people is that it is normal and ussually receeds with age.. i assumed it was more prominant because of his health status, but even as he has gained weight it hasnt shown much diffrence. (cant imagine much of that weight finding a home ont he top of his head :P) Anyways any info on this and any other great Boxer info websites you guys might want to share would be great. Im gonna scan though the site to see what i can find in the meantime.

much love
Keith & Butch

Welcome to BW! Congratulations on your new boxer boy! I'm sure it's a wonderful feeling to know that you were able to step in & give this boy a better life. With lots of love and patience I'm sure he'll fit in perfectly!!

:)

Appreciate that! He fits in great already, my mom is in love with him and he sleeps in her room. (gassy boy that he is) My moms been obsessed with getting a brindle boxer for years, and when she found him she knew he was ment to be ours. Hes a big lover, flopping down on you in what seems to be the most uncomfortable position for him and he'll just lay there, so content.
Hes great.

Hello, fellow upstate NY'er. Fibber McGee also has a bump on the rear portion of his head. My cousin (who works at a Petco and is trying to start a business as a dog trainer) calls it a "smart bump". We thought that was just great! However, its prominence lessened as he has matured.
How wonderful that you rescued a dog in need.

God bless you for rescuing him appiconappicon

We call that wonderful bump a "knowledge knot"
According to my wife, (affectionately known for her old wilves tales)
it means you have a very smart dog.

intriqued..

He does pick up on stuff unnaturally quick.. i just assumed that comming from his previous home he was willing to pay more attention, and get frusterated less. im gonna put some research into that quick. thanks both of you!

-just glad to hear that it shouldnt be from abuse :X
