Yeah!!!

Woohoo! The new crate survived its first day! My little Houdinni girl actually stayed inside while we were gone today! I think maybe it helped that this new crate is twice as large as her last one, but we'll see how long this lasts. Thanks everyone for the advice. I'm so excited that everyone here is so willing to help and compare stories! This is great!

smart cookies!

Some are a little brighter then others. Hagen has never gotten out of his crate...but Abby girl...well thats another story! She learned to jump up a few times to get the thing loose and then she lunges forward and the front falls in. This was daily occurance! We finally had to put wire ties on the top of the crate. No escapes yet!

Toby is still in the crate while I am at work or outside when he cannot come out. i cannot leave him alone in the house very long at all. Chews stuff up. Loves to countersurf. Drives me crazy. He is 1 1/2 years old now. I dont think he will every be able to be alone in the house. He also has separation anxiety.
I think sometimes the separation anxiety happens when they are a rescue. You never quite know what all they have been through. I know when I got him at 12 weeks old, he was very skinny and very needy.
He has not gotten out of the kennel crate. He has scratched and chewed the inside edges. He no longer does this.
He finally has stopped chewing up his blankets in it.
My previous boxer never did these things and was allowed alone in the house once he was a year old. But I did get him at 5 weeks old so he had a totally different life from 5 weeks to 12 weeks.
Different personalities, different backgrounds and surroundings.
I just can't figure it all out.
Of course, Toby is spoiled rotten and gets to sleep in our bed at night. He just loves that.
