Hi everyone,

I've been lurking on your board for a couple of weeks now and I wanted to introduce us to you all. My teenaged daughter and I rescued Mieke (MEE-kuh) from Lone Star Boxer Rescue last Saturday. You can see a photo of her in my gallery. She's a small (50 lb) 2 year old fawn with a white chest and white feet. Right now, she's undergoing heartworm treatment so she lays around a lot and just doesn't feel well at all, poor thing. She's crate trained and sleeps there all night and goes in during the day a lot, too. This is our first boxer. We've done a lot of research and are working with a trainer. Before, we had a chow/shar-pei mix who was the love of our lives. It has been a year and half since we lost her and getting a new dog was a big decision for us. The timing is right because I was laid off recently and can be home with a new doggie while she gets used to us and our home.

Anyway, I've already got some great advice from these boards and hope Mieke and I fit into your family here. :)

Welcome Fellow Houstonian!

I just love this place. Full of great people and information. In the Boxer Bash board there is a thread for Houstonians and surrounding cities getting together. Some of us have met and it's great.

Enjoy! :)

Thanks, everyone!

I appreciate the nice welcomes. Wow, there are lots of people from Houston here. and..... Hi, Jaya!! (for everyone else, Jaya was the LSBR person that did our home visit that's required before adoption. We almost named Mieke Jaya, such a cool name and a very sweet person.) Mieke's doing better - it's been a week since the HW treatment started so her hips aren't as sore. Of course, she still feels icky and we keep her settled down and quiet all the time. I'll get more pictures up soon. She's our love-love now!
