Hi, I'm a newbie. I've read some of the postings and I really appreciate this site. It's got a ton of info. I adopted a boxer last year and promptly fell in love. He's a neutered fawn male with lots of flash. His name is Cob (chief of the boat) and is absolutely the sweetest dog I've ever owned. He'll turn 5 in April. I got him as a result of a divorce so at first I was worried he wouldn't adapt well, but he fit right in. I feel as if i've always had him. He does have allergies. I've changed his diet to Purina HP and that seemed to help but now it looks as if he's developed pyoderma around his lips. this is a first and I'm at a loss as to what to do. I hate to overmedicate and I'm sure the vet will just prescribe antibiotics which will probably work for a couple of months and then it will come back (that's what happened with his other allergies) Anyway, sorry I'm so long-winded, just wanted to say Hi to everyone from Miami, FL and say I lok forward to reading all the interesting stuff that's posted.
