Hi there!!

My name is Carrie Johnson - my husband and I rescued a boxer called BUSTER 5 years ago now - he was a total hand full at first opening doors, emptying the fridge, anwering the phone etc etc - but he is the most adorable gentleman and has mellowed out alot!!.

He is a gorgeous brindle with white sock and our 'only child!!'

One question i would like to put out there is...

Are boxers prone to getting growths?? - Buster has had small marble sizes growths removed from his hind leg and another is slowly appearing on his front leg. - My main fear is cancer as the growth removed showed signs of the big C

Any info appreciated.

Love

Carrie & Buster

hi from the uk

hi carrie ,
my name is mandi and im in manchester (uk) .. I have a boxer dog thats 3 years old and he is the most adorable dog i know ( but then i am biased lol :) )
You mentioned ur worry about growths on Buster and i find with Zac he also gets small little lumps on his back and on his legs sometimes . When i mentioned this 2 my vet he didnt seem 2 concerned about them and told me that boxers are very prone 2 skin conditions such as , allergy,s . flea or pest bites and even sometimes the diet they r consuming .
Obviously u have 2 get all worries and concerns checked out but i wuldnt worry too much or buster will pick up your fear and wonder whats wrong .
Good luck
mandy

Lumps.

Hello Carrie,
welcome to the Boxer Board, we all try to help one another here. Now that Olly has updated the Board it is better than ever
Yes, Boxers do tend to get lumps; Brenin, our feller before Sergeant, had quite a few in his 11 1/2 years. One was on his chest and when he was sleeping in the evening I used to have to keep an eye on him, as he would all of a sudden stop breathing. It was pressing on something in his chest, once it was removed he was O.K.
Sergeant is a light brindle and is 6 1/2 years.

Hi Carrie,
I am Marilyn, Nala's Mom. Nala is the fourth boxer to share my life. My first girl, Hiedi , and second, Sheba, where both prone to growths. Early on they where all benign but as they aged, around the age of 10 they both developed cancer. Lumps that are benign have a different look and feel then those that are malignant. My third boxer, Becca, had terrible allergies. Again, more bumps, and again a different look and feel. My advice would be to have anything suspicious checked out by your Vet, try not to worry in the meantime, and enjoy every day with your beautiful boy! Hope all goes well.

Marilyn
