In the last 4 months we have had to put both our 10 year old brindle and our 9 year old fawn down due to cancer. Needless to say it's been a tough year so far. BUT, we have just adopted a 12 mos old pup named Herbie from our local Boxer rescue. The poor guy was abused and has some health issues including Demodex and allergies but has the nicest personality you could want!! I'm looking forward to reading about other rescue dogs so that I know what's "normal" behavior without being over worried.
