Boxer Pal
Hi, my name is Linda and I have a fawn female boxer, Millie who was 5 months yesterday. I've been on this site even before we purchased Millie deciding if a boxer was right for our family. I knew even before getting her that is would be alot of work but it's definatley been worth it so far. We got Millie at 7 1/2 weeks old and we just love her to death. She went through 2 urinary tract infections when we first got her which made the housebreaking ritual a tough one to deal with but everything is fine now (knock on wood). The only real question I haven't been able to find a solution for after searching this sight and the internet is the fact that she still pees in her crate. I normally had a towel down but my trainer said it was probablly acting like a diaper and told me to take it out. Well, for 2 weeks I didn't put it in there and I would come home from work and I could smell an odor in the room I have her crate it, but the crate floor was never wet and she wasn't wet. One weekend at a pupply play time session at Petsmart, she had an accident and peed, then proceeded to turn around sniff it, then started to lick it - Gross! Well, needless to say, I believe she's been doing this at home too. After 2 weeks of this, her breath really started to smell so I started putting the towel back in her crate because I'd rather be doing laundry then have her smell that way. Does anyone out there have any suggestions as to how to break this habit? By the way, I do work full time, but I have someone come twice a day to let her out so she's never in her cage for more than 3 hours at a time.

I absolutely love this sight and I do have more questions, but dont' have the time to address them at the moment (at work). Glad to be here.

Hello!

I'm glad to see someone else in the area! You're going to love this site, it's addicting and everyone is very helpful and friendly. Don't forget to check out the Boxer Bash forum. We're trying to set one up in Naperville next month. If at anytime you might want to meet up there, send us a PM.
We have an 11 month old Fawn male who loves to play.
Have fun.
;)

Thanks for the welcomes! The get together that is being planned for July 17th or 18th in Naperville sounds good, but I plan on having Millie spayed right around then so it all depends on when I actually get an appointment and how she is doing? If I go, it will be a last minute thing (decided that week). Thanks for the invite, I hope we can go, I've never been to a dog park, I'm both nervous and excited about trying them.
