Hey all,

I need some help here. I noticed that my puppy do not take enough water (The water level in the container is almost the same). How could I make him drink more?

He used to get fever and the eye are red. Most of the pet shop owner told me "You need to give him more water". But how?? I already have a big container for him with fresh water which placed at the corner that he could access !!!

Please advice. Thanks in advance.

Im not sure if you could make your puppy drink more. I think you should get your puppy to the vet. With not enough water, a boxer can crash (dehydrate) really fast! We had one that wouldnt eat or drink. When he did he would vomit. The vet told us we could try Pedialyte, or any type of hydration fluid for a child. Fever and red eyes dont sound like just water problems. You will feel better after you see a vet!! WE know all about that. Good luck

Markus was never a big drinker so I always added water to his kibble. I would watch your pup for signs of dehydration. If you take a fold of his skin, it should spring back immediately when you let go. It wouldn't hurt to take your pup to the vet. Better safe than sorry.

Good luck!

I do send him to vet last month. But the Dr. said he is perfectly okay. I might send him to ver again within this week.

Putting a little milk into his water or trying a meat-based broth instead can help to encourage a puppy to drink. Changing his water several times a day so that it is always fresh and cool is also helpful - dogs don't like stale water. See what the vet says though - if he's not dehydrated, then he is taking in sufficient water for his needs.

Just an idea

non flavored pedialite is a good substitute for water, i noticed the same with my pup about 4 weeks ago and the vet checked him out and said he was fine. He told me to try some of the non flavored pedialite and it has to be non flavored. I did it and he started drinking it alot of it. then i slowly started switching the pedialite to water and now water is his favorite thing. just check out my picture of him and the water hose.

Gordon is doing better now. The best way to make him drink more is to let him run more. I let him free run in the garden, and keep giving him water. He seems like enjoy "Drink - Run - Play - Drink". And now, I think he kept the habbit of drinking water already.
