I understand how your daughter feels. I actually have a 2 year old reverse brindle boxer with reddish stripping that only weighs 45 lbs. You don't see that coloring very much and nor do you see them that small so I've had several people think she was a pitbull. I make sure always to correct them. I call her my mini-box, she was the runt of the litter.
