Well Baxter turns 3 months old tomorrow (12 weeks)...He has been doing really well as of late adjusting to his crate and the housebreaking took a huge step over the weekend...

Was sitting on the couch watching him play on the floor when he stopped turned and went to the door and stated to whine a little...I jumped up took him outside where he basically pulled me over to his spot and squatted down and did his #2....I WAS SO PROUD!!...lol

Im hoping this practice is going to continue, and it has the past couple days.

That sounds awesome, how did you acomplish him getting use to this. I was told to keep on taking him outside multiple times(like a lot) and soon he will get used to going outside. Did you do this? What advice can you give me? My boxer is 8 weeks and his name is whiskey. Thanks in advance!

Yay for Baxter!

Way to go! Rascal is my first boxer pup and she is a dream! She is catching on pretty quick to the potty training, and looks so upset when she does puddle or pile in the house. I do not have her in a crate, she has free range of the house, so I use a disinfectant cleaner (pet friendly, non toxic) on the floors. I have noticed that when she does have an accident, it seems to be mainly in front of the door we take her outside through, so it may be that she is learning to go outside, but can not get there. She has yet to learn how to alert us that she needs to go, so I may try the bell training that I just read on this forum.

On a different note, I was told that Rascal is not a "true" boxer, because she is predominately white by another boxer forum website. I know that she is disqualified from showing (la de da!) because of her markings, but she is AKC registered, as where her parents (also white). Is this a common thinking or was someone just being a snob?

I have a few different idea how this started...Yes I took him out constantly! It seemed as though in the past few weeks i was just getting ready to let him out, and then right as i was putting on shoes we'd have an accident...So I knew we had a schedule that was close...I found that most days he pooped about an hour to an hour and a half after eating...I was also making sure everytime we went out he was peeing...He will basically squat every time I take him out. I just noticed the other day he had his leg up a bit while peeing, so im guessin that is next...

My honest opinion comes from this...I have 2 beds and 2 Crates in my place. He willingly goes in his plastic crate and he travels in it so he knows not to go in there...He sleeps in his wire crate all night so he knows the same. I allow him to lounge on the couch and also he naps in bed with me when I allow him to come up...He romps around the house pretty much at his own leisure unless i put a gate up to keep him in my family room...I think basically he expanded his "Den" rather fast and realized that its not ok to go inside.

I kept a lead on him most of the day. Not only does this allow him to get used to having a collar on with a lead, but it allows me to quickly get him outside should I see him start to sniff or circle. I still do this...

Honestly after a month of this, one day he just walked over to the door and barked...Hes not 100% house broken...we have had a few accidents, but they were close calls...

Praise Praise Praise....Treat Treat Treat....

seems like im the good track then, i just came back to work from lunch and he still hadn't pooped or peed inside at all. i took him out and he did both so i praised him and gave him treats. he has a collar on and seems to be getting used to it now. he scratches it less and less every day. i tried putting the leash and letting him walk around but he just nibs at it and growls at it. is this something baxter would do or was he fine with it from the start?

Don't let that fool ya..LOL...Tiara is 13 weeks and already knows how to get us to let her out. I live in the northeast and its been freezing cold with TONS of snow and she still wants to go out alone. I always keep her on a leash and only after she has done her business will I sometimes release her for a couple minute romp in the snow. She does know that sitting there by the door whining will get her out, but she will only get to play off leash if she does her duty.
They are so smart and I am so so glad we rescued this puppy!!!
