We use a valerian root and skullcap extract to ease our boy's separation anxiety. Used with regular training, it worked for us.

Magic-Pet Calmer

My Magic lost her nerves when she got ill. I ordered Pet Calmer from Solid Gold to help her with vet appointments and other stressful situations. Prior to giving it to her I tried it myself...it's pretty cool stuff and worked real well for me. She seemed to relax for several hours without acting doped up.

Chamomille herbal tea also works as a mild sedative. It is really mild, not at all as strong as valarian, but is great for car rides or the like.
