Help!

As most of you know my oldest boxer Muggsy had surgery on Friday. Well we sent my baby Jack to my mothers for the week because Muggsy has stitches on the top of his head and did not want to deal with Jack boxing him in the head as he loves to do. Well.... the first few days Jack would not eat... now he is eating but he is having accidents all over my moms house and is running from her outside and will not use the bathroom outside at all. We brought him over for a visit with Muggs so they would both see that the other was ok. But my mom is at her wits end and has just found out she has to leave overnight tomarrow. I am hesitant to bring Jack home since Muggsy is feeling good enough to play we constantly have to keep them apart. I don't want Jack to feel like he is being punished since he is doing nothing wrong. He doesn't understand. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

I know it must be hard, I have only one baby...How about a gate? Jack might bark though ha sorry I'm not much help?

You can always bring him home and seperate them until Muggsy heals. How about a crate or gate or a room? I would consider it at least. Muggsy, no doubt, may be a little stressed over the surgery, and Jack is no doubt stressed a bit about the sudden change of living arrangements. Why have them both stressed over being apart? I'm sure it will work out. Keep us posted.

Bring him home

I think the ultimate would be to bring Jack home. Keep them seperated until Muggsy heals. At least then, Jack is at home with his family and can return to his own environment. He will happier and I think you will rest a bit better.

I definatly want to bring Jack home but someone will first have to tell Muggsy he had surgery and to calm down. We are going to bring him home tonight and see how it goes. I just worry because Muggsy has been feeling like a million bucks today and Jack loves to knock him in the head that he will hurt him. I will give it a shot though!

Play Play Play!!!

You should definately bring him home, just make sure to wear Jack out extra hard. You could take him for a romp at the park so that he's worn out and hopefully will sleep when he gets home. That's what I had to do when my dog got spayed, sometimes you have to wear them out several times a day though. Good Luck!

I called the vet to ask why Muggsys glands were swollen and mentioned to them that Jack was not doing well. THey said to let them play under careful supervision. So.... I am picking Jack up after work and we are going to give it a shot. It will be more work for us but oh well. What we won't do for out babies.

I was a little unhappy with the vet though. The reason his glands are swollen is because they gave him penicillin which he is allergic too. He gets a bump the size of a baseball where he got the shot and it is very painful for him. So, it wasn't his glands it was were he got the shot. THey knew that too. She said they didn't look at his chart when they did the surgery and they always give penicillin with surgery. I said that we were lucky he is ok and to please note on his chart no penicillin. I mean, would you operate on a human without looking to see if they were allerigic to anything??

Sheesh Courtney...you are having one heck of a week! Lets see...when Dutch had his surgery...I kept him in the bedroom and let him play in there and then I would let him out in the rest of the house for just a bit and then we put him in the crate so he would relax. The difference though is that Jack is probably a lot more energetic than our Opie (He is 10 and LOVES to sleep...)If it were the case...I would probably keep Dutch in his crate which is out in our living room...That way he could see everything and I would probably give him his Kong and a bone. That would keep him occupied and then take them both for a walk with your fiance so they get some excersize. Deep breaths! It will be over soon!!!

When Jacob went in this passed summer to have his epulis removed our vet's assisstant said they would be putting him under with ACE, when I asked what they would be using. I said that I did not want him to have ACE & she actually had the nerve to argue with me!! She said she's never seen any problem with ACE & boxers & that it was perfectly safe. I had to call back on a different shift so that I would speak to a different assistant in order to have my request noted!!!

Thanks TLS!! We are definatly going to bring him home. My mom just called and said that Jack got away from her outside and ran in front of a bus. Luckily she jumped in front of the bus so it would stop and caught him. She had to stop the bus three times until she caught him. She said if she hadn't run in front of it it would have hit him. I am definatly bringing him home and hopefully this will be the end of my mini drama for the week. I can't wait until Friday! Muggsy gets his stitches out and everything can finally get back to normal!
