I really need all opinions out there!!!!! I have two boxers Jax and Jasmine. Both are in cages durning the day. Jasmine is a year and a half and has a hard time not peeing in her cage durning the day. Jax has been cage broken for a long time now. I just am getting fustrated because I have tried everything from limiting her water in the morning to keeping her outside for 20 to 30 minutes in the morning before I leave. My husband is getting frustrated because its his garage that she is stinking up. I'm willing to try anything.

Do you have anything in the crate to soak up the pee -- ie a bed, blanket, towel, etc.? If there are things in there, try and strip them out. How long is she in the crate? How big is the crate?

The cage is the size for a large breed dog. There is nothing in there with her because she will destroy it. I actually have to use extra locks and had to take the bottom out because she learned how to jump it and open the crate. They are in there for about 8 to 8 and a half hours. Normal work day.

8 hours straight? Might be a little long for her to hold her bladder. Is there any way you can have someone come by half way through the day (at lunch time perhaps) to let her out to pee?
How long has she been peeing in her crate? If it's a recent occurance, you could have the vet check her for UTI to be sure.

8-8 1/2 hours is a long time to ask your dog to hold it. You need to have someone come in and walk her in the middle of the day. Do you go 8 hours without peeing? :(

You mighty take her to the vet to make sure that she doesn't hava a UTI. You might watch her in the morning to make sure that she actually goes.

Somedays I can get home to let them out but other days are impossible. I tried calling my vet today but of course the day after a holiday they are closed. I've also checked to see if she had worms. She did this for a long time and had recently stopped for a good three months or so. I know plenty of people that leave their dogs in crates for 8 hours or even longer. If that was the issue than I would have two dogs wetting their cages.

On the days that you are able to get home to let her out, does she still pee in the crate?

My husband actually let her outside for a while brought her to her crate went somewhere for under a half an hour came back and she had done it.

Perhaps she has separation anxiety? You mentioned she also destroys things in her crate. Does she drool excessively or show other signs of anxiety? Maybe you could video tape her for a few days to observe her behavior. See if she pees around the same time. Just throwing some ideas out there.

I have thought that myself. That is why I gave her blanket with our smell on it or blankets with our kids smell on it because maybe she likes them better :). That is a good Idea to video tape her. I might just have to try that.
