mixximae,

Over eight years ago, we had Caesar stride into our lives because he was, at 10 months old, found to be two wild for his original family.

Caesar's kind of stocky and doesn't have the best "look" to win any big timme dog shows. But he doesn't have to. Before he had been with us for a year he gave me an unsurpassed gift. I'm disabled and today Caesar is my Service Dog, allowing me to participate fully in the lives of my two teen aged kids. Go for it!!! I think you'll find as so many of us have, that the Boxer you rescue will end up rescuing you.

Anyway, today, I saw them in the park. And guess what. No cart. The dog was "walking" on his own for the first time in almost 2 years!! He was limping badly and you could tell it was difficult for him, but damnit, I just cried to know how much this dog has been through and how much love this man has given and what sacrifices he's made to give this dog a good life, a dog anyone else would have given up for dead. If a dog can love us unconditionally, why can't we try and love them the same way?

Good luck with your decision. Go with your heart. Can't lose that way. :)

Oh my Gid Dan what a beautiful story and a beautiful sentiment. I wish more people in this world had a heart like yours and the man that saved that dogs life. angelicon

Two wonderfully happy endings in this thread. I'm so glad you are taking Sophie. I can't imagine anyone on this board not convincing you to do so.

And Dan, that was a beautiful story. I wish there were more people in the world like that man and the people on this board. Bless all of you!
