Boxer Pal
I just acquired a year and a half boxer. He has not been house trained and I was wondering if it is possible at this point to make him stop going in the house. Hes' really good at going for walks and does his business when I take him out, but leave him alone in the house for 5 minutes and it's accident time. I hope someone has an answer. He was not abused in his former home, just neglected to a point.
I thank you in advance for any insite into this problem. He has not been neutered yet.

Hello Ed,

You can start by training him as if he were a puppy again. Since he doesn't know, bring him out every 20-30 minutes and show him. Crate training can really help potty training along too. Most dogs will not go to the bathroom where they sleep. Good luck - I'm sure this boy is happy to be in his new home with you!

I adoped a 14 month old female Boxer and quickly found that she was not housebroken either. it's entirely possible to fix this, just takes good timing and patience. I'm also wondering if the fact that yours hasn't been neutered is a factor-- my last male Boxer used to mark my home frequently until he was neutered. good luck to you!
