Help with new Puppy and Topdog

Today I got my new little Puppy. His name is Merlin. I brought him home and Simba seems to like him. He licks all over him but the Puppy is only seven weeks old and my big boy thinks he can just play around with him, the way he wants. But he is too rough and I'm afraid that he will hurt the Pup. Anybody got any tips on how to handle this. Do I have to interfere all the time, or will this pass wants the Newness is worn off? Any answer would be appriciatet.

I don't think you really have to worry. I have 45 pound cassius and a 5 pound siamese kitten that is the same age and sometimes it seems cash is playing too rough but we really havent had any problems. I would think you'd have to worry less about your pup then I have to with the kitten. They should be fine.

Boxer-Newbie, I am glad you responded as you did because I was getting ready to say the same thing. I think there is nothing to worry about. Each of my puppies have been rolled around by their older brothers and they loved it.

I have a similar concern, we have Max who is 45 lbs. and seven months old, we just got Buster last week, he is 8 weeks old and about 8 lbs. Max is really rough with him and always biting Busters legs, I'm afraid she's going to pull one off.

Buster's pretty sassy though, he doesn't put up with too much, or he runs to mom or dad for protection.

I'd be more concerned with a pup running away and hiding then if it kept playing but was just getting its butt kicked.

Ginger has been giving Cracker a hard time too. Doing exactly the same things. Rolling him, pinning him, biting at his legs and jumping around him but he seems to be okay. He's only let out a couple of yelps and he always goes back for more. Sometimes though he runs over and hides between my legs and growls and barks at her from there. They had a good wrestle tonight though, they loved it. She doesn't bite hard and he keeps going back so he must not mind it too much=) If she seems to get too rough or it's gone on a long time and he's tired i call her off and she finds a toy or comes for loves. I wouldn't worry too much.

Gosh glad i am not alone!!!!!
Yesterday I brought home my 8 week old male, Jack, and my 16 week old male Alfie is just so rough. I am scared to leave them alone because Alfie gets on top of the baby really roughly , biting his ears and pinning him down, he does not let up at all.

Poor Jack is in the crate for most of the time at the moment for a break and then Alfie continually barks through the bars of the crate and pulls all the toys out!!!

I make sure Alfie has special mummy time and take him for lovely walks a hug on the bed which his special place and try and make sure he does not feel left out.

Any tips? or does everyone think it will pass once the novalty is over?
Will he seriously hurt baby if he plays too rough?

XUXA LOVES NEW PUPPY, MAYBE TOO MUCH

I was wondering if anyone could help! I just brought a precious (male) 10.6lbs boxer, black and white - home.

We supervise all meetings with the two friends.

My older boxer, XuXa, loves him so much that she actually plays the maternal role. She watches him while he is in his crate, and plays tremendously rough with him while he is out.

Xuxa is 11 months, 60lbs, and very caring and loving. She plays too rough with the new male.

Is this normal?

When is enough, enough?

How can I minimize Xuxa'a agressive effection towards him?

Please help, as I would like to ensure that the puppy is well taken care of, and safe from harm.
