Hey all,

Zoey is about 4.5 months old now, and we have been using a gentle leader for about 2 months now. I was hoping it would help her not pull when we were ready to switch her over to a regular collar. It has done the opposite, she knows when she has her regular leash on and pulls like crazy.

any advice to help walk on a regular leash? the gentle leader is great, but i see it as more of a crutch than anything because as soon as you don't use it they go back to their regular ways. i would love nothing more than to be able to walk her with a regular leash

thoughts and advice are appreciated. i was also looking at cesar milan's walking leash and it looks good but i don't want to buy something that i have heard nothing about.

Perhaps if you tether her in the house she will learn that the leash won't give and she may stop pulling. While you out for a walk, STOP everytime she pulls and don't start again until there is slack in the leash. Turn directions frequently so she learns to pay attention to you and to go where you go.
Good luck!

Try moving the regular collar up closer to the head when you walk. Our dog seems to pull a lot less when we do that.
