I have had a new puppy for a few weeks now. He is currently training to be house broken and crate trained. The house broken thing is going really well. However the crate traing not so well. He goes crazy everytime he is in there. But back to my orginally reason for posting this thread. Rookie is 9 weeks and goes outside often to use the bathroom. I don't have a fence yet for him, I am waiting for the weather to become better before I install one. Now he goes outside and wants to run away from the house before he goes. Which is ok but when finished he wants to go further. I need to start taking him out on a leash. We have been using the leash some in the house but all he wants to do is play with it and bite it. If it is on him outside he will not go, he is too busy with the leash. Any suggestion on how to better his behavior on the leash at such a young age. Thanks!

I would let him drag the leash around the house so that the novelty wears off and he won't want to play with it all the time. You could spray it with bitter apple to discourage chewing.

My pup is 3 mths old and he still wants to play with his leash. When we got him at 8 wks, it was impossible to take him out on a leash b/c he wouldn't go potty either but around the time he was 9 wks, we had a terrible snowstorm and when I took him out, he did his business as usual and bolted into a wooded area behind our house. I was not pleased as I had to try to catch him while he played his little game of tag amongst the trees. From that day on, I attached a lease to him and he's been on one ever since. I am very consistant with the spot that i take him to so he always has the smell. If you take your pup to where he's been normally going, and stand there for a few, I figure he would do his business. It make take 10 min but eventually...
