My 4 year old boxer has had two episodes now where she is fine one minute; then, she goes into shock. Herr gums, eyes, etc. become very pale. Her breathing is labored. She goes limp. Her blood pressure becomes very, very low. We rush her to the vet and they give her a shot of Epinephrine - this brings her out of it. This happened about a year ago and then again on New Years Eve. We have had blood work, etc. done. My fear is that if we are not home, this will happen and we will lose her. Help.... any input? Thanks.

Have you had her heart tested? Fainting/collapse are often signs of Aortic Stenosis and/or Boxer Arrythmic Cardiomyopathy - and the gums do go very pale with these as well! Find a board-certified cardiologist and have a Doppler (for AS) and 24-hour Holter (BAC) done to screen for these conditions.

Thanks Julie. Any idea about how I find a Vet that has experience with this? I am in the Southern CA area?

My boxer fainted...

My Boxer has fainted twice in the past month from exertion, running outside. I had her to the cardiologist last week and she had Holter test done. I am now waiting results on that for treatment if anything. It scared me to death when it happened so I understand what you are going through. I suggest to take your baby to the vet as it may nedd further extensive testing. Good Luck...

Thanks for your input. Let me know what the Vet says. I am going to take my in and get some tests done. It is a very frightening experience. Poor baby is sleeping and I wake her up to see if she is ok. She looks at me like I am from another planet. :p
