Help This Dog In Washington!!!

LONG STORY, SHORT...

I came accross a white, female boxer named Charlie in the Everett Animal Shelter. She has been adopted out and returned 3 seperate times due to her being deaf. She is approximately 1 to 1.5 years old and is extremely sweet! I adopted her Friday but since she had not been spayed, they kept her and took her to the vet today to be spayed. When they opened her up they noticed she, from what they can guess, had some sort of bowel surgery in the past. Now her intestine has attached itself to her abdomen. The two will need to be seperated to protect her from difficulties in the future. She will also have to be spayed at the same time since they could not complete the surgery today. I adopted Charlie to keep her from being adopted and returned again, and to keep her from being put down. If I didn't keep her myself, I had 2 other options for great, loving homes that she could make her 'forever' home. Now with this complication, finding a home will be difficult and I don't think I can handle this alone! I'm 24 and live alone with my 2 other white boxer boys!!! I will continue to help her and house her until something comes along, but at this point, I think Charlie needs a rescue organization to save her since they can better provide for her and may have close connections with a specific vet's office. PLEASE HELP CHARLIE!!!

I think you would get more of a response to this in the adoptions or rescue forums. Maybe the mods could move it for you? Edit* I just saw that you did post a similar thhread in adoptions about this. You shouldn't start multiple threads about the same subject. It's called cross posting and is against the rules.

I seriously question why someone would adopt a dog they aren't fully prepared to care for. I don't mean to attack, because you certainly had good intentions, but when you adopt a new pet you have to take into account any and all potential vet expenses.

Another thing I am scratching my head about is the fact that a vet opened this dog up to spay her, found other problems, and didn't spay her while they had her open?!? They had her open for this procedure anyway. This seems like it creates additional unnecessary discomfort.

Yes, I wondered the same thing, maybe the intestinal problem needs to be dealt with first, but then why didn't the vet do that?! Poor girl, I hope Charlie gets the operation she needs.

I adopted her so she wouldn't be put down. As I stated in my first post, she has been adopted and returned 3 times. Last time I checked, kill shelters aren't too keen on having to expend their money on the same dog over and over and over. My plan was to save her life then find her a home. The vet who opened her up to spay her could not spaying her because her intestinal problem blocks the view and access to her uterus. She will need to go to a specialized vet who specifically works with soft tissue damage.

I did NOT realize I would be criticized for saving a dog that was on death row! I'm trying my best here.

She will be taken care of properly. Obviously I have good intentions, so I am not going to allow the dog to suffer. I am working with two groups right now to help her and get her surgery scheduled so she doesn't have to heal twice.

Good for you for adopting this dog. I don't see where you were critized . This is posted in the wrong forum though. Good luck and hopefully you can give her the proper medical attention she needs and a forever home.
