Boxer Pal
I am really counting on the expertise of the BW community! My boxer Daisy has been having some serious problems. She has a continual cough that has lasted about 3 months now. It gets worse, then gets better, then worse again. She has been drooling a lot, and has nasal and eye discharge (sometimes clear, sometimes cloudy). She has been tested three times for Valley Fever (its very prevalent in Arizona), has had two negative chest xrays, been on several unsuccessful antibiotic treatments, and visited an internalist. No one has any answers on why my baby is sick, as all of her tests come back negative. She is getting increasingly lethargic, and will not really get up and say hello anymore. She will lay on the ground and wag her nub though. It is breaking my heart that there are no answers and I have already spent thousands in vet bills. Dasiy was a rescue boxer, and when we got her in November she was not well (just a cough and upset tummy), but would jump and play. Now she will only get up briefly, and when we return she will immediatly go to the bed and lie down. Has this happened to anyone, I am truly devistated that my baby is ill. Is there a test I should be asking for? The vet wants to do a trach wash, but is this another inconclusive test? PLEASE HELP!!!

Have they done bloodwork? xrays on her throat/trachea? her lethargy sounds very alarming to me, I wish I had some better suggestions or ideas... you have seen an internal med specialist? I might still suggest another opinion if your vet and the specialist aren't coming up with anything...I will keep +++ thoughts for your baby! Have they cultured the discharge (nasal)--she may have some sort of bacterial infection, possibly? A trach wash might give them some clues actually...

I'm so sorry your baby is so sick. Could it be some kind of allergy maybe? Sending lots of prayers that she gets better soon.

I hope she gets better -- I will keep you in my prayers. I am sorry that I do not have any experience with this or any helpful suggestions.

Have they tested for any other fungal diseases? I'd test for histoplasmosis and blastomycosis.
