I AM A FEW WEEKS away from bring home our male boxer pup Morpheus, we have been fortunate to be able to vist him. WE noticed this early on but thought nothing of it. However, as the time comes for us to take him we just want to make sure that everything is ok. Morpheus holds his rib cage and his tummy up..(i am not the best at explaining) meaning that his stomach area does not hang down like his littermates. So his stomach area is flat on the bottom from his rib cage down as oppose to his littermates who have hanging tummies. Is this normal.

Help- high rib cage and tummy

Morpheus is a few weeks from comming home and we got to see him again yesterday. We did notice from our first visit with him that he holds his tummy and rib cage high. HIs torso does not droop like his littermates. Looking at him from the side his tummy is strait across. No fat hngin tumy. Did you notice this with any of your boxers and is it normal

I am trying to get a "mind's eye picture" of what you are trying to describe. Is it that he looks more like an adult in as far as he doesn't have the typical puppy belly?
We always gush over fat little puppy bellies, but sometimes a fat little bloated puppy belly is a sign of worms (someone correct me if I am wrong?)
Have you asked the breeder about this?

Don't know if it is strange or not

But Dozer's tummy wasn't fat either. I don't know if that is because he was under weight or what but since we have had him he has thickened out a lot! and he still seem's to carry his tummy high! It may just be a body type!

Madison was the runt of her litter and her tummy has always been high. Even at 8yrs old it is still very high. She never did get staulky but stayed skinny and high bellied.
