I'm not sure what to do. Nala is 4 and a half months and just started puppy class. She loves to play with other dogs so as soon as we get there all she does is try to drag me towards the other dogs. She does this the whole time. The other puppies sit with their mommy/daddy when the trainers talking and pay attention when learning (even a younger boxer). Nala does not do any of this at home she listens very well and does not do this with the neighbor boxer either. I would like stop this without a gentle leader or halti does anyone have any suggestions? I feel like such an idiot during class because I look like the only one with no control over my dog. help me please lol.

Do they have a socializing time at the start? At the puppy class I attendend here, they let them run around together at the start to try and get that out of their system. If not try playing Nala out before class, just to take the energy edge off before class. That should help some.

Unfortunately the don't let them play until the end of class. I will have to try to get her to burn more energy before we go. Thanks.

My thought, in addition to the above suggestion, is to ask the instructor. Who better to teach you than a trainer AT THE TIME OF INCIDENT? Why doesn't the instructor step in and use this as a training tool not only for your dog, but the others?

The other puppies stick by their owner cause they are in an unknown place, with unknown people and with all new scents. They are insecure puppies and sticking with their protector.

Your gal is social and very secure with herself in wanting to explore her new surroundings. I'd be proud of her!

Hi! LILYLARUE makes a great point there. You and your puppy are there to learn so I am sure the instructor will have no problem in giving you some advice if they are a good trainer.

Our boy is in Grade 1 and he finds it difficult as they do not play at all in this class -it is very serious business  ! However I have to just keep getting up with him and getting him to sit also they use treats alot in my class so I treat and praise him when he is sitting or lying down nicely and I am finding now he sits or lies and stares at me.....he is learning that my treats are more interesting than what else is going on.

Our class has one main instructor plus 3 others who walk around helping so that helps alot! It is hard for them especially when they are young but that is the best place for her to learn and I am sure she will calm down eventually. Good luck :)
